This Cardrona quad bike tour takes you all the way up the mountain, stopping along the way as the working farmland gives way to raw alpine terrain — and the views keep growing.

You don’t need experience on a quad bike. What you need is a willingness to follow instructions, dress for the conditions, and let the mountain do the rest. Kel, who founded The Cardrona Horse Treks & ATV Adventures 13 years ago and still leads the operation today, has built a tour that works for first-timers and seasoned riders alike.

Experience the Cardrona on a Quad Bike

A two-hour guided quad bike ride into the high country above Wanaka’s Cardrona Valley, with departures at 10am and 1pm. Guides run through the bikes and controls before the group sets off, then lead the ride at a pace suited to whoever’s along that day — no prior quad experience needed to take part.

The route climbs out of the valley floor into open mountain terrain, gaining enough height that Lake Wanaka and the surrounding ranges come into view. Guides stop at points along the way for photos and to talk through the landscape, then lead the group back down to finish around the two-hour mark.
